New to you

Wild Things

Wild Things

Every now and again we like to mention new release books, especially ones that might not be so well known, because they’re by new authors.

Wild Things by Clay Carmichael, doesn’t quite fit this description, however it is her first YA book [novel].

Clay has been doing children’s books for very young readers, for a number of years, and has been very successful at it.  Bear at the Beach, Lonesome Bear, & Used-up Bear all wonderful. But now she’s branching out to YA.  And good for her!

In addition to being a fine storyteller, Clay is a brilliant illustrator.  You can see some of her work here: http://www.ibiblio.org/ocag/gallery.php?artist_id=228, or http://www.claycarmichael.com/, or http://www.wincbooks.com/claycarmichael.htm

WT was released May 1, 2009 by Front Street, so it’s still in the “6 months is new” window.

The book has already been selected for the American Library Association (ALA) Notable Books Discussion List, an ALA Amelia Bloomer List nomination and an ALAN (Assembly on Literature for Adolescents) Pick.

Kudos to Clay Carmichael!
