Happy Birthday to Anthony Hope, creator of Ruritania

For those of you that are yearing to flee your winter world for an exotic local, find yourselves a copy of The Prisoner of Zenda, by Anthony Hope.  And while waiting for your book to ship, check out the 1937 movie, of the same title, starring Ronald Coleman and a young David Niven!

Sir Anthony began his life a  lawyer and it wasn’t until he’d written his 5th book that he achieved success.  Yes, book 5 was Prisoner of Zenda. If you’ve not read it, it’s some of the best adventure writing ever.  Do buy a copy printed in the UK for the full effect though.  Sir Anthony’s Ruritania continues to live on, as a fictional country setting in most Political Science , Law School classes, and even cyberspace.
