I asked you and you would not listen; so I asked my God and he did listen

Today is the Feast day of St Scholastica.

Once a year, Scholastica would go and visit her twin brother Benedict at a house between their abbeys, and they would spend the day worshiping together and discussing sacred texts and issues and then return to their own monastic houses.

One year at the end of the day, Scholastica asked Benedict to stay with her for the entire night. He refused. Scholastica closed her hands in prayer, and after a moment, so violent a storm came up that Benedict could not leave.

Benedict asked, “What have you done?” She replied, “I asked you and you would not listen; so I asked my God and he did listen.”

Never underestimate the power of God or the prayer of woman when it comes to overturning the politics of men.

Freedom, Democracy, Peace!

God hears the prayers of Egyptian women.
