In the waiting room of life

National Marrow Donor ProgramBe The Match

Updates might be a little slow.  We are working away, but today in the email we found a letter from Be The Match.

Be The Match matched potential bone marrow donors to patients in need.  We signed up a couple of years ago, to try to help a young teenager, Mia Stoutenborough, but weren’t a match for her.

IF you have the time, please read Mia’s story.  There were five matches. One of the donors ended up not being a perfect match and three others were unavailable, leaving Mia with one possible donor who ended up being a perfect match. When the woman was called, she declined to help and asked not to be contacted again.

Apparently, though we can’t help Mia, we might be a match for someone.  That being the case, we hope Mia gets some “credit”  and  someone finally steps up for her.  Also, work kinda has to take a back seat to saving someone’s life so we may or may not post.

Please, think about adding your name to the donor list. It’s not just selfless, we know someone who met their husband at the hospital where she were giving her donation! And maybe you can be the one to help Mia.
